We will also be posting news bulletins or other pertinent information regarding the school, its students, its instructors, or the Master. The calendar will also list these items as well. Make sure you print out the school calendar each month for easy reference.
2008 California State Shiai and Kata Championships 5/31/08
The 2008 California State Judo Championships were held on May 31st and June 1st in Fresno CA, at the Selland Arena. The Radisson Hotel and Conference Center was the host headquarters for this competition. OCK took a team to compete at this event. We had three kids place at the tournament.

Beach Party 8/9/08 (12:00 PM)
OCK will be having a beach party on Saturday August 9th. We will have Food, Fun and Games for everyone. The party will start at noon at Bolsa Chica Beach between lifeguard towers 17 & 18. Our pot luck will be around 3-4pm. We will end the evening roasting marshmallows around the fire. Please sign up at the Dojo if you plan on attending. We look forward to seeing EVERYONE there!
Sensei Memorial Tournament, San Jose 2/15/09
OCK attended the Sensei Memorial Tournament in San Jose on February 15th. We had 20 students compete at the tournament. It was a wet but fun weekend for everyone that attended. The results were as follows.

2009 Colligate Nationals 3/14/09
Gavin Purdy competed in the 2009 Collegiate National Championships in San Jose and did OCK extremely proud! Gavin brought home the GOLD medal by winning all of his matches by Ippon. Gavin fought competitors from Texas A & M, San Jose State (semi-finals), and the University of Hawaii (finals). Congratulations Gavin!
Mojica Jr. Judo Tournament 3/15/09
OCK will be attending the Mojica Judo Tournament on Sunday, March 15th. Applications are available at the dojo. This tournament is mandatory for the national team. Although, we strongly recommend all students attend. Please check back after the tournament to see our results.
Las Vegas Championships 3/28/09
The Las Vegas Championships were held on March 28, 2009. OCK took 15 competitors to this event. All of our competitors did a great job and OCK took home the 3rd place team trophy. The following students took home medals.

USA Judo Senior Nationals 4/17/09
USA Judo Senior Nationals will be held on April 17th & 18th in San Diego, CA. OCK will be taking 4 students to this event. Please come out and support our competitors. For more information on this tournament, please see Tracy at the dojo.
OCK Judo Foundation Spring Tournament 4/26/09
The OCK Judo Foundation Spring Tournament will be held on 4/26/09. This tournament is mandatory for all OCK students. Please support our club and attend our tournament. Applications are available via e-mail at tokada89@yahoo.com. Please call (714)337-6549 with any questions.
The Morris Cup Tournament 5/9/09
Four of our students Mason Kumashiro, David Dunphy, Steve Shilling and Gavin Purdy will be attending the Jason Morris Cup Tournament on Saturday May 9th. They will be traveling to Albany, NY to compete with some of the top Judokas in the United States. Please support our competitors and wish them luck before they leave!
Halloween Tournament and Party 10/28/09 (6:00 PM - 7:30 PM)
OCK Halloween Party and Tournament will be held on Wednesday October 28th at 6pm. We will be holding a tournament in both the Jr. and Sr. classes with an ice cream sundae party in between. Invite your friends and family to join the fun! We would like to thank the OCKJF for making this event possible.
Continental Crown Championships 11/7/09
OCK will be sending 2 students to the Continental Crown Championships in Seattle, WA. This tournament is E-Level, here the competitors will be competing to earn points for their national ranking.
Picture Day! 11/11/09 (6:00 PM)
On Wednesday, November 11th we will be having our annual picture day in the dojo. Pictures will be taken in class and will be available for purchase. Even if you don’t plan on purchasing any pictures, please plan on being at practice so you can be in the class picture. Envelopes with picture packages and pricing will be available shortly. Mojica Judo Tournament 11/15/09
OCK will be attending the Mojica Judo Tournament on November 15th in Baldwin Park. Weigh ins for 5 to 12 yrs old are from 7:30-8:30am, 13-16 yrs old are from 9:30-10:30am, and 17 & older are are from 11:00am-12:00 noon. The tournament will start at 9:30am. Dallas Invitational 11/21/09
OCK will be sending 2 students to the Dallas Invitational on November 21st. This tournament is also E-Level, here the competitors will be competing to earn points for their national ranking.
2010 Jr. Nationals team parent meeting 12/3/09 (7:00 PM - 8:30 PM)
We will be holding the Jr. National Team parent meeting on Thursday 12/3/09 at 7pm. The meeting will be held at Sensei Okada's house. If you are interested in your child being in the Jr. National training program please see Sensei Tony or Tracy for more information. This meeting is mandatory for anyone wanting to be on the 2010 team.
Goltz Winter Nationals 12/5/09
OCK will be attending Goltz Winter Nationals on December 4th and 5th, 2009. Applications are available at the dojo. Please see Tracy if you need any additional information.
"The Judo Way" Teachings 12/7/09 (6:00 PM - 7:30 PM)
Beginning in October, the senseis will be teaching “The Judo Way” twice a month at the end of class. “The Judo Way” consists of characteristics that every champion needs to possess in addition to his or her physical skills learned in class. Some of these characteristics are Respect, Discipline, Confidence and Loyalty. “The Judo Way” will be taught during the last 15 minutes of class on the first and third Mondays of the month. Parents are encouraged to be present and listen in on the discussion led by the Senseis. The October dates for “The Judo Way” will be held on October 7th and October 14th at approximately 7:15 p.m. We hope everyone can join us and encourage our children to be champions in both body and spirit

Orange County Classic Tournament 4/18/10
OCK will be hosting the Orange County Classic Tournament on Sunday April 18, 2010, at the Esther Snyder Community Center in Baldwin Park. Each competitor is guaranteed a minimum of 4 matches.
